A Case of Headache Associated with Sexual Activity

Abstract

|
|
|
Headache associated with sexual activity is precipitated by sexual excitement, bilateral in onset. It was prevented or eased by ceasing sexual activity before orgasm and not associated with any intracranial disorder such as aneurysm. Recently, headache associated with sexual activity was divided into three types. The first, dull type is a dull ache in the head and neck that intensifies as sexual excitement increases. The second type, explosive type is a sudden sever ("explosive") headache at orgasm. The last is postural type. It is postural headache resembling that of low CSF pressure developing after coitus. We report a 43-year-old female patient who revealed the explosive type manifestation of headache associated with sexual activity.
